Color Conversion Chart: Lunatic Fringe to DMC

I created this chart by comparing Lunatic Fringe yarn colors to DMC colors on a real thread color card, under a high CRI light source. I've done my best to match value, preferring that over a more exact hue match -- but the difference is slight, and rarely is there a hue match closer than a value match.

The grays are an exception -- I went for a hue match over a value match, because grays with different hues are guaranteed to look weird together.

Colors are arranged in approximately the order in which they appear on the DMC color chart.

I've included a match quality rating. "Definitely" means that, to my eye, the two colors are nigh indistinguishable. "Probably" means that the colors are distinguishable but the differences are likely to be unnoticed in a finished project. "Maybe" means that the colors are very distinguishable and not a great hue and/or value match.

Caveats: Dye lots vary. I'm only working with a single dye lot, so what shows up as a "Definitely" match for me might be a "Probably" for you. Swatch, test, and look before you leap!

Not all Lunatic Fringe colors are listed here, because I don't have them all.

Not all DMC colors are available in all DMC products. All colors should be available in 6 strand cotton floss, but not necessarily in all perle sizes.
