Guardian Angel: taking flight

The wings are worked with triangles of shading centered around brown lines. For the first highlight of gold, I needed to determine how far down the outlines to stitch (since I am working at a larger scale). I referred to the work-in-progress photo from the tutorial and eyeballed a curve, then penciled it in on both wings. It comes out to a little over the inch suggested.

After laying in the gold, the rest of the wings come together: just expanding the triangles, with one, then two of the next shade...

To make sure I balance out where I want the last two shades to fall at my project's scale, I penciled in some more guidelines.

Four parallel lines of the second to last shade fill in the lines well. The rest is just filling the gaps.
