"On Medieval Embroidery" by George Edmund Street, 1863

Linda Parry, in her book William Morris Textiles, mentions a talk on medieval embroidery given before the Dublin Architectural Society by George Edmund Street, an early mentor of Morris who played no small part in forming his tastes and future work. The talk was published in the October 1863 edition of The Ecclesiologist, available at HathiTrust. Curiously, Google's digitization of this document is more locked down than most of the other issues of The Ecclesiologist, and so none but Google and whom it approves may distribute the images or Google's OCR of the text.

As the text itself is in the public domain, I have OCRed the available images and cleaned up the document, preserving punctuation and spelling as best I can, and inlining the few citations. I release my digitization of Street's talk into the public domain, as it should be, free of any restrictions in distribution or otherwise.
